I have installed QB 2003 on a computer that I'm running the new Windows Vista on. I updated all my files and most things seem to run OK but when I try to open the "Company Navigator" I'm getting an error that the file isn't linked to a program. I have checked around and have found that I have to go into the folder "Intuit\Quickbooks Basic\Components\Pages\CompPage.QPG" and set the "Open with" to a program.

This is the problem.... what program should I set this too. I have tried a few different ones but I'm just stabbing in the dark as I don't have a clue which one it should be.

Can anyone help me out???

Thanks... Bummie

Intuit has been very imformative regarding Vista compatibility:

I'm afraid QB 2003 will not run on it.

I know... that's what I have been reading also and that's what they say but it is running OK except for those .QPG files that need to be linked to a program. I don't know what program to link them to. All the rest seems to be working fine. I have updated 2 months worth of my companies transactions on there.... invoices, receiving payments, entering payments to venders, etc and all is fine. Checked my backups and everything is good.

Just need to know what program to link those files to..... ANYONE?????

I really think you should consider to upgrading to QB's 2007 - it's Vista compliant and IE7 compliant; seems to make sense at this time for you.

I agree with Rox, you should seriously consider upgrading. I don't recommend my clients upgrade every year, but I don't like them to get too far behind for this sort of reason. But then, I don't recommend jumping on Vista right away, either.

But if you just can't upgrade and it's just the navigator that's the problem, don't use the Navigator - just use the menus.
