To clarify a few things a Developer friend posted this on another forum and I thought it might be useful here:

************************************************** **

To clarify about IE7 and QuickBooks 2004. QuickBooks relies on browser functionality for Merchant Services and help, among others things. These will be a problem with IE7 and QB 2004.

With regards to Vista – it is a totally different operating system with different security requirements and rules. If you use Vista, you MUST have 2007 QuickBooks – older versions will not run properly on Vista. QuickBooks 2007 was built with the new security requirements in mind, whereas the older versions were built when Vista was still being constructed.

To take care of our clients for this coming season we will NOT move most of our machines to Vista. Some of our machines will have Vista, but those will have Virtual Machines ( a software product that allows you to run multiple operating systems within your current one) running XP so those employees can still continue to run older versions of QuickBooks. 2 Gig of RAM is minimum from my standpoint – we will, in fact use 4 Gig.

It's going to be 'interesting' once Vista really enters the picture! Not something I'm looking forward to at this point, that's for sure.
