Hi all

I have just started up a small business (Dental Laboratory)

Its a 1 Man operation, no payroll or inventory stuff needed so i thought Quickbooks Easystart would be best for me at this point in time.

Its a part time business and i dont at this stage need to worry about GST

For all intensive purposes it is ok for what i need, however i want to customise my invoices, ie: when printing it prints out boxes for stuff such as;

P.O number
Project
Tax%
Tax amount
Tax Total

I dont require that information and have been into the "Customise" area in EasyStart but there is no option to remove those boxes.

Is it possible to do that or do i need a better version of Quickbooks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Tony

Easystart is almost bad enough to drive you to the next level itself! It works, but they have cut it down so much that it is likely to be more frustrating than helpful for many. If you can live with the limitations, it actually uses the same underlying database as QuickBooks and will do the job well. But it can be frustrating. I have a client that uses it and I pull his file into Premier to do the reporting each quarter. i can read the file, but if I change it in Premier, I cannot load it back into Quickstart. So I just take a copy to read and do the more detailed and customisable reports.
The thing that bugs me most is the Invoice closing every time I write one. We do the entries all in one go from his manual system and it gets a bit of a pain. But for $99.00, it really is a bargain - if it doesn't bug you.

tx guys.

I actually think its ok, but as i said, the only thing i really want to be able to do at this stage is customise the invoices, which it seems you cant actually do with EasyStart :(

Does anyone know if you can fully customise invoices with QuickBooks Accounting 2006/07 ??

I would like to eventually get Quickbooks Pro as i have used an older version before and it is excellent, i just cant justify spending nearly $800.00 on it as yet

If you get over the fact that you have to pay every year, the best way is to use the yearly Subscription version. You get the product for about a third of the full price - and you get to upgrade every year. This makes QuickBooks Pro actually affordable.
if you really need a good Invoice, we have written an ActiveX dll that you can use from behind Excel to send an Invoice into Quickbooks. You define the data in VBA and our code pokes it into QuickBooks. This allows you to set up an Invoice any way you want in Excel. You can have it print the way you want, then send it as an ordinary invoice into QuickBooks. Have a look at http://www.ozbizsolutions.com.au/QbObjx.htm
