I would suggest changing the save options. Here's the problem I ran into.
I have a co. file. It's got data from 2004, 05, and 06. I want to save the file as '05 and delete all the '06 data to have a clean '05 file. Then I want to open the original file (that still has everything in it) and delete all the data prior to 1/1/06, manually transfer in the balance data from my nice clean '05 file (without having to re-enter the first four months of invoicing,etc. from a "remove all transactions op. from archiving) and have a clean '06 file.
I can see that the only way to accomplish this is if you close your books right at the end of the year (lesson learned that I don't want to wait 'til '07 to correct.)
Just put a "save file" function in and forget the archiving/condensing/restoring stuff! I know what I want to do and QB won't let me do it without jumping through 15 different hoops!
