View Full Version : exporting Customer List to make Labels?

Quite a few of our customers are resellers, and we give them a discount on our product. We put a "*D" in the Customer Name dropdown box to denote that this customer gets a discount. Now, we want to notify our customers that our discount has changed, and I've modified the Customer Phone List using this "*D" code to get a 4-page list of reseller names (longer than I thought!) of customers to be notified.
Can I use the data off this list to print mailing labels so that I can make a form letter to all customers? Or, somehow pull ONLY these names into the Customer Statements page and print the notice on a statement?
I hope so! Thanks to any smarty who might know!

We use a different type for customers of that nature. Ours are distributors as opposed to regular resellers. In the 'make statements' screen, you can filter by customer type to print statements. You can then, if you like, customize a statement just for them with your message.
On the customer screen, additional info, you can enter a type for that customer. This might work for you.

Michael,
Thank you! I see there is a filter for "Type" there when you issue statements. Unfortunately, these customers go back 15 years, some of them, and there are some weird types that I don't even know what they mean.
I see we have all our resellers noted as "Resellers" in the "Job Status" column. I don't think that will do me any good here.
I guess I should think about correcting the "Type" for all our customers to a more meaningful name!
Also, I wonder how long of a message can be included. I have a regular 3-paragraph letter explaining to our resellers that their discount will not be so large as it has been in the past. Gotta cover up the BAD NEWS with more words! ; )

I hear you Chris. I'm not sure about the length, but probably not that long. It seems labels and a leter is the best way. I beleive you can print labels by customer type as well.

Michael,
Thanks! I finally did the labels. They print 20 to a sheet. I just easily edited each customer's type to a newly created "Reseller25" or "Reseller35" "type" (25% off and 35% off) and it worked great. I didn't use the cutomer statement form cause my letter was lengthy.
Your help was quite useful!
