First off I just foud this forum and I know it will come in handy in the future.

I just set up my new computer and install 2001 pro with XP. Has anyone had any problems with this combo?

QB asks me to register this software and for a tax subscription code. I have registered this copy on the old computer and I registered it agian on the new one, was this a good idea? The tax table # that I tried to input was not valid! Is this because of a different registration #?

Did I screw it up already!@!!

thanks for any info

XP does not contain virtual machine (JAVA) which QuickBooks needs to operate properly. If you have allready installed QB on xp what you will need to do is download VM from Microsoft:

http://www.microsoft.com/java/vm/dl_vm40.htm

If you still receive errors after this especially error trying to get updates. Click Start then go to run type in reboot.bat and hit enter this will re-register all QB components.

If that still does not solve your situation simply install QB again over top or your previous version do not uninstall first.

just read your reply regarding winxp / 2001 pro installation. thankyou for your interest
I have been trying to install this onto my new laptop since 11/01. Ive tried it all. java, registry modification, key code modification, install , reinstall, un install.
Then I tried putting the cd in the stereo in my car !!! you have to play it backwards! when this is done it spells out P-U-R-C-H-A-S-E-2-0-0-2-U-P-G-R-A-D-E.
CAN YOU believe IT????
SI did just that, the peopli at intuit were very very nice! (except 1, hey 4 out of 5 is good). anyway, after all attempts to upgrade to 2002 pro, except to purchase telephone support, I sent the upgrade back to intuit for a refund. did you like my story? It's true- except the backwards thing.
The laptop is new, well, unused. I use it for other things, I don't suspect it. But, I do enjoy your assistancen, as well as ALL the others who compose this community of users thanks in advance to you and the others.
by the way, I am still using QB 2001 pro on my former dinosaur. love you all, steve latchney

I truly love when one person cannot seem to get something to work and comes to the conculsion that a billion dollar a year company is tryign to get him.

I guess all the others who are able to use 2001 on XP are just lucky...........damn I bet intuit is pissed they got buy them.........lol
