Custom Fields to Reports

I am wondering how I can add a custom field from the item screen to the Stock Status report. I have created a custom field for new items and I would like to include it on the stock status report. When I click on the modify report, the only option I have in the display area is the date range. Is there a place to select more fields for this report where I can add these custom fields?

Also, is there a way to get the custom field to show up on the screen when entering new items instead of having to enter the item information and remember to click the custom field to enter the extra information?
