transferring data

I've moved my companies' files from my old computer running Win 98 to my new computer running XP with 3rd party software (IntelliMover). I reinstalled QB 2001 beforehand on the new computer, but it won't recognize the companies and data. I don't think I can use the backup restore method because of the different OS.

You probably need to install the updates.....I'm not sure if they are still available thru the Intuit site though. Take a look at your file information to see which Release your 2001 is running on the original computer and compare to the new computer.....then go to the Intuit website and see if they can still be downloaded. Otherwise, you may have to upgrade.
