For instance:
I have a note from a call to Intuit last year, that the only way to convert version 1 files to more recent files is to get a copy of 2.1 from Ebay or whatever. So much for Intuit's written promise to give "Free, unlimited support 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST, M-F... (415) 322-3020."! This is printed on the outside of the box of my Quickbooks version 1.0.
Don't you hate it when a company reneges on its promises, abandons users and to add insult to injury, charges you to sit on hold and talk to them about it? Its almost as bad as charging you over a hundred bucks a year for the privilage of having updated tax tables.
I now have to try to find a copy of version 2.1 so that I can upgrade 1.0. Intuit used to give away copies of the conversion software. In fact their support archives say they will give you the software free. Apparently that software is no longer available. And is not even on the support archive CD... available for 19.95, plus perhaps some hidden charges, etc.
I used to like Intuit. The whole idea of software that was DIY, intuitive, easy to use, user friendly, considerate, faithful, dependable etc.
Now its getting worse than Microsoft. They charge you to fix their blunders. They charge you for the privelige of having YOUR software work each year.
