which version to choose

I recently purchased a company that owns Quickbooks 97 (yikes!). I know that I need to upgrade, but need help choosing the right version. The company does light manufacturing, but what I need the most help with is inventory management for our made goods, because we rent them. I have over 4,000 items that can be rented on a monthly basis or longer. Are there any versions of Quickbooks that can help me link this rental inventory to my customers for invoicing?

There was no QB 1997 :-))
There were 3, 4, 5, 6 (and NOT 93 but 3 and NOT 94 but only 4, and so on..) and followed by QB 99

I would take a look at the QB's 2005:Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale. It does a pretty good job and they will be amazed at how much it has changed over the years.
