View Full Version : Separate Checking Accounts
Is any one know if one can set up different password for different checking account, say regular and payroll in 2004 QB Premier Manufacturing Edition?
Is any one know if one can set the history viewable date, say Dec. 31, 2003?

You cannot password protect different checking accounts. You can give restricted, or no access, to specific sections...i.e. payroll, but not bank accounts. Either they get access to bank accounts, limited, or none. It's a good idea though!

Thanks! However, I have requested QB team to make such feature for 2005 version. Do you know if they are making such changes?
Also, I prefer to have the histrorical data protected. We have 5 people using the QB daily. Once you give the check cut right, he or she will see all payroll info, historical info for all company finantial activities, reports etc. Can we push QB to make such feature so the managers or owners can control the information more confidently? Thanks!

All you can do is suggest to Intuit what changes you would like, and have everyone you know email and suggest the same thing. We have no control over what gets changed/added/fixed, it goes based on what is the most requested and most doeable for them.

Can we do it through this website?
You could use the Feedback area of the QuickBooks web site. Or, in your program, go to Help & Support, under the Help menu and look for Submit a Suggestion (on the right hand side of the screen). You will get a screen there to fill in that goes directly to them. It's built right into the program.
Thanks!
One of other feature is that we need a nob for inventory parts. When we made a mistake and entered non inventory part as invnetory part, we can not make correction.

I have submitted the following suggestions. Please help me to do the same. As you said that the more person submit, the more attention QB will get!
When business grows and hit certain level, we will need better control of who sees what. Here are four major needs.
1) Separate password for different checking account, say, regular checking, payroll checking and distribution checking accounts;
2) We need a password setting for historical date, say, I do not my book keeper to see 2003 or before's account activities;
3) We need more fine settings for each area which we give the right to. For instance, we can give the right to book keep for check cutting right, but do not like to have her see 2003 or before's details and do not want her to see the report;
4) The admistrator shall have to right to re-catogrize the inventory part to inventory sub-assembly or non-inventory parts especially after we have the 2004 manufacturing version since we have to make such changes, otherwise the inventory sub-assembly features can not be use. Please recall that you did not have sub-assembly feature in the past.
These suggestions are very import for our company to continue with QB for next year. I heard similar needs from many companies too. Please add them ASAP!
Please call me if you have any questions!

Will do! The more that emails the suggestions, the better chance of getting the enhancements.
