Backup through USB

When I try to backup to my 100gb drive through a USB port, I get a message "not enough space". What is going on ?

First of all, make sure you are indeed backing up to (or attempting to backup to) the USB drive. If you are certain that it is correct, check the contents of the drive and see if there are other files residing on the drive. You may driver files and/or other backup files on the USB drive (you just never know until you look).
