What kind of business?
Version 2000 was one of the most unstable platforms of QB's and Intuit no longer offers technical support or payroll tax tables. 2004 has a ton of great features and has been quite stable.

A retail business with mostly ebay sales.
150-200 sales a day. 10-20k a week in sales
My business partner has 2000 pro installed on his pII 450 machine running windows 95 and I'm trying to convince him to just bite the bullet and purchase 2004 (the retail business edition) and install it on my p4 2.6ghz. We have 2 employees. He wants to do the payroll manually. We can certainly afford to purchase the new software, he just thinks it's a waste of money.
Thanks for any advice you can give us.

Derek,
If it were me.....I would upgrade :-)
One way to look at it.... how much are you guys really going to save when the computer won't start and/or there isn't a current back-up. I have spent the last 2 weeks with a client who seriously needed to upgrade and didn't.....now it's cost him 10 times more, at least...not to mention the frustration and worry.
Honestly, with those kinds of sales....it will be some of the best money spent to keep your records straight and data safe. Manual payroll....ugh :-) :-) I use a company called Paycycle.com that I love....saves time and money and keeps the IRS happy :-)
Good Luck,
Rox :-)
